about this piece:
"Vase/Hanaire," #00-171
18 cm x 11.5 cm x 12 cm
Wood-fired
This vase was Shino glazed, then sprinkled with Oak ash, fluxes,
and colorants, before being side-fired on shells for 15 days in
a firing fueled with Cottonwood. Colors range from pale celedon,
white, yellow, and gold, to green, blue, pink, purple, and red.
Carbon-trapping in the clay body produced some deep gray-blues.
Textures range from dry-ash-encrusted to glassy, with the large
drip at the foot mingling glassy and dry crystalline portions.
