about this piece:
"Torque-Topped Vase," #00-160
18 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm
Side-fired Porcelain
This vase was thrown, altered, and handled while
on the wheel. The interior of this pot was filled with glaze for
30 minutes to allow some of the glaze solubles to accumulate and
move into and through the pot -- the crystal-laden surface is
one result of this rather unorthodox glazing process. Tri-podded
and side-fired on shells in a cone 10 reduction firing, this pot's
surface records the glaze movement during the firing.
